This course meets the requirement for Practicum in Early Childhood in the Certificate in ECE Foundational Certificate. This practicum is a supervised field work experience in an inclusive early childhood education setting with infants, toddlers, or preschool-age children. Students will gain competencies in supporting children with diverse needs and backgrounds, implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum, supporting child development across domains using positive and supportive interactions, and supporting health and safety. Students work directly with young children for 150 hours over a semester. The course includes a one-hour seminar each week and regularly scheduled conferences with the College Supervisor. Students must submit a CORI application prior to beginning the lab hours.
