COM219: Multimedia Production
This skills-based course focuses on the conceptualization, design, production, and evaluation of multimedia communication using photography and video. Students plan, capture, edit, and prepare multimedia content for digital platforms with personal devices and industry standard equipment. The course culminates in a curated digital portfolio demonstrating technical skills, design thinking, communication intent, and reflective process.
COM226: Rhetoric of Social Movements
This course provides an overview of the theoretical, practical and communicative aspects of social movements as well as the methods of rhetorical criticism of those movements. It will investigate the purpose of social movements, the conditions that make them possible, and how they work. Students will analyze the tactics of social movements found in political speaking, public advocacy, popular culture and media narratives in both contemporary and historical contexts.
COM227: Social Media Strategy and Design
This creative, skills-based course focuses on social media strategy and design. Students plan and produce content for multiple platforms using industry-standard digital tools. Emphasis is placed on storytelling, visual communication, ethical digital engagement, responsible use of AI, and analytics for evaluating audience engagement. The course culminates in a digital portfolio supporting potential employment or transfer.
DAN110: Jazz and Tap Technique
This course introduces students to a foundational knowledge of jazz and tap dance techniques. Through dance exercises, observation, research and discussion, students develop physicality, versatility, musicality and an overall understanding of jazz and tap dance styles. Emphasis is placed on participation. This course is repeatable once.
