AMT234: Airframe Inspection and Reciprocating Engine Theory

This course covers reciprocating engine configurations, internal combustion principles, and component functions within the power cycle. Students inspect cylinders, crankshafts, and bearings using FAA-approved methods, and perform accurate cylinder removal and installation. Training includes rigging engine controls, conducting safe ground operations, and applying FAA regulations to perform and document engine inspections, including 100-hour tasks, AD compliance, and proper use of maintenance data and checklists. This course completes FAA Airframe topics and begins teaching Powerplant requirements.

Prerequisites

ENL108 (Critical Reading & Thinking) or satisfactory basic skills assessment score

MAT025 (Pre-Algebra) or satisfactory basic skills assessment score

*AMT112, AMT114, AMT116, and AMT118 or Part 147 approved General Curriculum certificate or equivalent.
