The Fresh Start option is available to any student who meets all the following criteria:
- Has a grade point average below 2.0
- Has not graduated from CCCC with a certificate or degree
- Has not been enrolled at CCCC for at least one year
- Has not previously exercised the Fresh Start option
Under the Fresh Start option, original grades, and cumulative grade point averages (CGPA) will remain on the transcript, but all future calculations of CGPA will include only courses taken after readmission.
The Fresh Start will be indicated on the student’s transcript. Academic credit for any course taken prior to the Fresh Start will be retained only if the student earned a grade of C- or better. Students under the Fresh Start option will be expected to meet the graduation requirements in effect for degree or certificate programs at the time of their Fresh Start.
The Fresh Start option is for academic standing only and does not impact federal financial aid requirements (Satisfactory Academic Progress) or previous financial balances with the College. A student planning to use Financial Aid will need to follow the Financial Aid Appeal Process.
Once a Fresh Start is approved, changes cannot be reversed. (Amended by College Meeting Sept. 2011, May 6, 2024, December 1, 2025)
