Massachusetts National Guard Tuition and Fee Waiver Program
The Massachusetts National Guard Education Assistance Program provides a 100% tuition and fee waiver for active members of the Massachusetts Army and Air Force National Guards attending a state college, university, or community college program. Assistance can continue insofar as active members are in good academic standing and until the member has reached 130 semester hours.
To apply, the National Guard member must request a Tuition and Fee Waiver Certificate of Eligibility (CoE) from the Massachusetts National Guard Education Office for the total number of credit hours for each semester in which the student is registered. Members may request the CoE at the following address: https://mangtuition.scerisglobalaccess.com/.
Eligibility
An active member of the Massachusetts Army or Air National Guard who is in good standing and meets the following criteria:
- is accepted for admission to, or is enrolled, full- or part-time in a Massachusetts public institution of higher education, as defined above
- is eligible to receive and has been issued a Certificate of Eligibility by the Military Division of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts applicable for any portion of the academic year
- has not exceeded the 130 semester credit hours maximum, or the equivalent quarter hours or clock hours, when combined with Certificates of Eligibility issued prior to September 1, 2006
- maintains satisfactory academic progress as defined by the institution
Maintenance of Eligibility
It is the responsibility of each National Guard member to maintain their eligibility for educational assistance. While at 4Cs, the member must provide their Certificate of Eligibility to the School Certifying Official (SCO) before the semester or term start date to facilitate awarding of the waivers. It is the responsibility of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Military Division to inform the institution of the status of any member of the National Guard who has failed to maintain good standing or has terminated their service. Upon receipt of this information, the institution must determine if the award may be canceled for the current or subsequent academic terms.
National Guard Tuition Assistance Program (Active Duty Guard Members only)
Federal Tuition Assistance can be provided to Massachusetts Army and Air National Guard members who are taking a course or program taken at a regionally or nationally accredited, public, or private college, university, vocational, technical or trade school located inside or outside the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This tuition assistance can be applied towards tuition and all authorized fees and covers up to 100% of tuition and fees not to exceed $250 per semester hour and with a cap of $4500 per fiscal year.
